Invoice details
What a good invoice includes
- The word invoice, a unique invoice number and the issue date.
- Your name and contact details, and your client's name and address.
- What you did, quantity and rate, and the total due.
- The due date and exactly how to pay.
- Your payment terms, and a late-fee line if you've agreed one.
Clients who ask for a W-9 before paying are common; see our W-9 guide. If you send more than a handful of invoices a month, an invoicing app saves time on reminders and payment links: compare them in our best invoicing apps guide.

FAQ
Is this really free? Is my data safe?
Yes. The page runs in your browser. We do not receive or store what you type, and it disappears when you close the tab.
How do I save a PDF?
Click "Print or save as PDF", then choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in the print window. Only the invoice prints; the form and navigation are hidden.
Do I charge sales tax?
It depends on what you sell and where you and your client are. Many services are not taxed, but rules vary by state. Leave it at 0 unless you know it applies.
